Instructions For A Better Life

Step 1: Stop feeling sorry for yourself. If you want a better life, you have to go out and get it. Let go of excuses and blame.

Step 2: Follow the joy. For a brighter, more “you” life, the goal should always be joy. I forget this on a daily basis, but I know it’s true. And for that reason, right now I’m going to stop writing this blog post and paint for a while.

(Two days later…)

Step 3: Trust yourself. You may decide to start selling a juice supplement because your cousin Rick convinced you it was a good idea, but if the doubts creep in, it’s time to check back in with yourself. You are the only person who knows you, and you should always trust yourself and your decisions.

Step 4: Always ask yourself these questions:

  • Does this choice make me feel mentally and physically good?
  • Does this choice make me feel peaceful and content? (Even if you’re excited about something, there should still be an air of peace with your choice, rather than manic excitement.)

If the answer is no, it’s probably not going to lead to your best life.

Step 5: Never give up. Never give up. I’m saying it twice so it sticks with you. It is beyond easy to forget what you want out of life or to think it’s impossible to get. Don’t ever give up. You may not be able to be a professional basketball player, but you can still have a life that brings you peace and joy and prosperity.
