About My Process: An Invitation to Stillness

Meet Jen

I am endlessly inspired by the stillness and serenity of nature.

I create layered, intuitive torn paper collages that reflect the calm and beauty of the natural world around us. My process is a personal ritual: it begins with hand-painting large sheets of paper using watercolor and mixed media, allowing color and light to flow organically.

I then hand-tear these sheets, honoring the imperfect, organic lines found in the mountains of Western North Carolina where I now live, and the ocean vistas of my New England upbringing.

Finally, I layer these unique pieces, building the final composition intuitively until the emerging landscape strikes a chord deep in my soul. Since the birth of my daughter, this practice has become a devotion to finding and sharing stillness. Each finished piece is a quiet, intentional space designed to invite you—the viewer—into the present moment, asking you to pause, find your center, and welcome peace.
