How to Paint Intuitively In A Few Easy Steps

What Does It Mean to Paint Intuitively?

Simply put, if you want to paint intuitively, you must create from a place of stillness within yourself.

We ALL have an intuition, really and truly. It’s the part of ourselves that whispers (or yells) “no” when something just isn’t right, or nudges us to take a chance on something.

When you make something from your intuition, you’re creating in a place of freedom, a place without judgement. It’s not about creating the most stunning painting/dance/poem ever seen by humankind, it’s about detaching from the conditioned mind and fear and judgment.

A Few Quick Steps to Intuitive Painting

To paint intuitively, you need only follow a few steps, you’ll just need to practice them over and over.

Step One: Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Return to this moment.

Step Two: Ask for guidance or something to come through you.

Step Three: Wait to see/feel/hear something, then begin creating.

Step Four: Regularly check in to see if your mind is interrupting your flow with comments about the work you’re creating. If so, breathe again and come back to the moment.

Step Five: Choose the thing that feels the most open, joyful, and FUN! This is not a serious practice, this is a joyful one. If it starts to feel serious, take a breath, smile, and pick the thing that feels the most open.

Painting Intuitively is For Anyone

This is not some out there, only for the super spiritual practice. Anyone can paint or create from the quiet, guided, benevolent place inside themselves, you just need to practice.
